There was more discussion at last night’s (Tues) Evansville City Council meeting about the proposal to move $250,000 from the police budget to the affordable housing fund.
That money would be replaced in the police budget by transferring funds from the Public Safety Local Income Tax fund.
Opponents say that no matter what it’s called, it amounts to defunding the police department, and that’s something they won’t stand for.
No decision was made Monday on that budget amendment.
