Lezmond Mitchell was executed yesterday at the federal prison in Terre Haute.
He was condemned for the horrific murders of a 9-year-old girl and her grandmother.
Mitchell, the lone Native American on death row was pronounced dead at about 6:30 Eastern Time on Wednesday.
Navajo leaders had appealed to President Trump to stop the execution because it violated tribal culture and sovereignty.
The federal government has now carried out more executions in 2020 than in the previous 56 years put together.
