With the City Council poised for action on the 2021 budget looming, Mesker Park Zoo officials say their budget is tight.
And they blame the COVID-19 virus for their fiscal woes.
Zoo leaders say they usually see about a million dollars in revenue from zoo visitors.
But the facility has been closed down for a few months because of the virus, and that’s caused their pocketbook to take quite a hit.
That revenue represents half to two-thirds of their budget.
So far there have been no lay-offs
