The moratorium on utility shut-offs for customers in delinquent situations expires August 14 — unless Governor Holcomb and the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission extend it, which appears unlikely at this juncture.
Right now the Evansville Water and Sewer Utility has about 27-hundred customers who are in arrears, with past-due bills totaling about $1.6 million.
Those customers either are making or need to make payment arrangements to avoid a shut-off.
Payment arrangements have been extended from three months to six to ease the financial burden on customers.
