The 15-foot tall Superman statue in Metropolis, Illinois is being spiffed up.
The Paducah Sun reports that the statue is being fully restored, and bricks in the platform and surrounding area are being replaced as needed.
New commemorative bricks are available, at $700 each.
Money from their sale will be used to finance the project. It’s the same way the statue was originally financed in 1993.
Officials hope to finish the project and hold a re-dedication ceremony by next summer’s Superman Celebration — set for June 10-13, 2021.
