The Evansville City Council may vote next week to require masks in public.
A proposed ordinance authored by council members Jonathan Weaver, Kaitlin Moore and Zac Heronemus would require anyone six-years or older to wear a clean mask in most public areas.
First offenders would be issued a warning.
Repeat violators would be subject to a fine between $50 and $100 after that.
The ordinance would last until the Governor lifts the COVID-19 emergency declaration.
