Evansville police are called to the 1200 block of Lodge just before 2am Friday on a shots-fired call.
They found several shell casings and a lot of blood but no victim. Witnesses said someone had been shot and the suspect was still at the scene. Officers took 24 year old Deshambre Atkins in to custody, then discovered that he had a bullet wound in his inner thigh that he wasn’t telling them about. He was taken to a hospital and will be okay.
A little while later, police were dispatched to the 1800 block of E. Franklin because someone had been shot… that person, who was hit in the face and head, turned out to be the victim of the Lodge shooting. He was taken to hospital and his condition is unknown. Atkins is being charged with felony battery
