The Catholic Diocese of Evansville says allegations of abuse of a minor by the late Father Raymond Kuper are unsubstantiated.
In a written statement, Bishop Joseph Siegel said the allegation was made in August of 2018.
Since that time, the bishop has directed a private investigator to make an exhaustive probe of the circumstances, including Father Kuper’s career and life and service to the church.
Bishop Siegel says the allegations were immediately reported to civil authorities, and the individual involved repeated the allegations publicly before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
The investigation did not uncover evidence substantiating the allegations.
