You may have noticed a B-17 flying over Evansville Monday afternoon. As we’ve talked about on the WIKY Morning Show, the Texas Raiders B-17G is in town to mark the 75th anniversary of D-Day, June 6. I was part of a media flight that fulfilled a lifetime of daydreams about what it felt like aboard one of these particular legendary aircraft. I’ll never watch a World War Two movie the same. You can visit this bird all week and the price is extremely reasonable to inspect inside and out while she’s on the ground. (And even take a ride) From the website:
Evansville Wartime Museum, 7503 Petersburgh Rd, Evansville. Tours o
f the aircraft are $10 for adults, $5 for children or $20 for a family of up to five members. Flights on the Flying Fortress start at $475.
Tours start at 2:00 PM Monday and 10:00 AM Tuesday through Thursday June 4-6, and run through 5:00 PM each day except Thursday when Tours are ending at 2:00 PM due to flight commitments. Those who wish to fly on
