Guns and Hoses announces grant recipients

Firefighters and law enforcement officers share the real prize of this year's Guns and Hoses boxing match - $100,000 for local nonprofit agencies. The board of 911 Gives Hope, which organizes the annual event, announced the list of grant recipients yesterday. Some of the proceeds go to a group home for people with Prader-Willi syndrome, a rare genetic disorder. A combined $43,000 is awarded to 16 other agencies:

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters — $2,000

  • Boys and Girls Club — $2,000

  • Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center — $2,000

  • Evansville ARC — $2,500

  • Ivy Tech bike giveaway — $500

  • Forest Hills Back to School Outreach — $1,000

  • Dream Center/Media Ministries — $5,000

  • Mended Little Hearts — $5,000

  • Wish Upon A Star — $3,500

  • St. Vincent Daycare — $3,500

  • Shop with a Sheriff — $1,000

  • Hoosier Burn Camp — $5,000

  • Hadi Shriners — $3,000

  • EPD Foundation/Schroerstrong — $3,000

  • Youth Resources of Southwestern Indiana — $2,000
