The New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art presents Art and Soul, a benefit exhibition and sale of original artwork by Gulf Coast Artists, August 9 – September 21. An exciting and visually rich textile exhibition from artist members of the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana is on display in the Bower-Suhrheinrich Foundation Gallery through September 26, 2008. This unique display features eight of our region’s artists who specialize in the genre of creating textile art. The collection includes works of silk screened, dyed, painted, beaded, hand and machine quilted, batik, appliqués, integrated fibers, wall hangings and cloth figures depicting the many emotions of women.

Location: St. Mary's Breast Center
St. Mary’s Breast Center and Cancer Center are offering free mammograms as part of “Sharing the Vision: Early Detection of Breast Cancer.” Screenings are scheduled from 8am to 11am throughout the month of September at the Breast Center, 711 St. Mary’s Drive. Visiting Nurse Association Hospice and The Hearts & Hands Committee of Sts. Peter & Paul Church are co-sponsoring the grief support group sessions to be held from 6pm– 8pm, on Thursdays during the month of September, at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Center located at 211 N. Vine Street, Haubstadt. VNA Hospice staff will facilitate the sessions. Topics for the support group will be: the grief process, spirituality and grief, healthy expressions of grief/good support systems, and grief through the Holidays and beyond. Location: St. Joseph catholic school, St. Joe road, vanderburgh county
The annual St. Joseph parish rummage sale will be held Friday Sept. 5 and Sat. Sept. 6th at St. Joe School on St. Joe Road. Friday evening is double price night. Saturday morning $2 bag sale starts at 10 am. Lots and lots of items. Some new and slightly used items. Sale is held indoors and lots of help available to load your vehicle. Refreshments are available.

The Southern Gospel group The Hyssongs will be in concert on Friday, September 5 at 7:00 PM at Church of the Cross in Evansville, Indiana. Admission is free (a free will love offering will be collected). Church of the Cross is located at 5401 East Lloyd Expressway in Evansville, just East of Harrison High School.
