Walk to Defeat ALS

Sat, 10/04/2014 - 10:30am - 2:30pm

Tropicana Evansville, 421 NW Riverside Dr, Evansville, IN 47708

More than just a few-mile trek, the Walk to Defeat ALS® is an opportunity to bring hope to people living with ALS, to raise money for a cure, and to come together for something you care about. The Walk to Defeat ALS® is The ALS Association’s biggest annual event, which raises funds that allow our local chapters to sustain care services and support research for much of the next year.

Please visit www.alsaindiana.org to register your walk team TODAY and support the fight to defeat ALS!

Check-in starts at 10:30 a.m., with the Walk beginning at 12 p.m.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Eventually, people with ALS lose the ability to initiate and control muscle movement, which often leads to total paralysis and death within two to five years of diagnosis. For unknown reasons, veterans are twice as likely to develop ALS as the general population. There is no cure, and only one drug approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) modestly extends survival.
