The amazing story of the Chilean miners being brought to the surface one at a time from the mine they've been trapped in for 69 days has us riveted. 

But it's also one of those stories that features a word that we've all pronounced one way and then suddenly are required to pronounce differently.  In the miners' story, the country is Chile - forever pronounced  "chilly" by the rest of us - but newscasters call it "chee-lay."

At this year's Fall Festival, I got everything - a pronto pup, chicken and dumplings, pink eye.  I got everything.

As I was shaking the man's hand, I said to myself, "Hey, he looks like he has pink eye."  I am the master of observation.

My wife Lora and I have three kids and have had pink eye carried home from school a dozen times over the years but this is the first time I've caught it.

The Fall Festival is underway on Franklin Street and the weather couldn't be more perfect.  Everyone seems to have their favorites and heads directly to those booths but with 126 different booths, we at WIKY have encouraged exploration.  For my first Fall Festival six years ago, I sampled every booth.  I really didn't know what I was in for until I walked onto Franklin Street and didn't figure it would take an entire week, but I did it.  The problem, of course, was the combo -  a pronto pup at one booth, deep fried Twinkie at another, then a brain sandwi
